Linda Denison
Sewing Instructor
Linda is a native of Tampa, attended Hillsborough High school and grew up immersed in the activities of her church and her music activities. She played piano since she was 5, sang in choirs, played cello and bassoon, and attended Florida State University, majoring in Music Therapy and Music Education. Upon graduation, she attended USF, majoring in Varying Exceptionalities (special education). She taught emotionally handicapped students for eight years in elementary and middle schools. She completed an Educational Specialist degree at Nova in educational leadership, and a doctorate at Nova in Organizational Leadership. She also taught master’s and doctoral classes at Nova in education for 17 years. During this time, she was appointed assistant principalships in middle and high school, and finished her career in public education as the principal of a performing arts magnet school in Tampa. Linda has long been involved in community service activities, heading up an English as a Second Language program for four years at her church, and most recently starting a sewing ministry to make clothes to send to third world countries. Because of her background working with special needs students, and dealing with the challenges of managing schools, Linda continues to be interested in facilitating positive activities, attitudes, and outcomes with the population within the jail system in whatever way is needed.
