Sophia has worked in the business and housing development field for more than 35 years. Most recently, she led the City of St. Petersburg's Economic and Workforce Development as Director. While addressing workforce issues, Sophia became aware of the barriers to quality employment opportunities faced by those with any type of criminal record. The mission of Red Tent Women’s Initiative is to help women overcome the post jail experience through a program that provide a proven method to overcome past trauma and move forward on a path to healing and improved outcomes. Sophia’s past volunteer efforts include; the Tampa Housing Authority, the Florida Housing Coalition, and many other organizations.
